A Lifestyle and Wellbeing Coordinator at a Sanctuary Care home in Hamilton has been shortlisted for a prestigious National Care Award.
Von Ryan Ong, who has worked at not-for-profit Abercorn House Care Home for three years, has been named a finalist in the Care Activities Coordinator of the Year category at the National Care Awards 2026.
A Focus on Residents' Wishes
Von’s passion for enriching lives has created some incredible opportunities for residents, helping them fulfil lifelong wishes, enjoy holidays, reconnect with hobbies and stay actively involved in their local community.
His achievements include introducing a resident wish board, supporting volunteering opportunities and arranging a holiday to Drimsynie Estate and an overnight visit to England for an art exhibition.
He has created so many unique experiences tailored to residents' interests, including a retro rave where a resident performed alongside her DJ son, and a wedding vow renewal celebration for a resident and his wife, marking 56 years of marriage.
