Pupils from primary schools across the city were invited to gather in the banqueting hall at the City Chambers on Wednesday 23 September for the induction of a new group of junior road safety officers.
Split into two groups throughout the day, the young people listened to a presentation on the importance of the role and learned about the many ways they can share road safety messages in their schools, from creating eye-catching noticeboards to hosting assemblies and competitions.
Pupils were then given the opportunity to meet and chat to qualified road safety assistants and ask questions that will help guide them to deliver the best support they can to promote road safety among their classmates, teachers and wider school community.
A spokesperson for Glasgow's Road Safety team said:
Well done to all the pupils who have been appointed as a JRSO this year. Your role is so important in helping us educate and encourage others to make safer decisions on and around the roads.
By taking on new skills such as bikeabilty training and speed awareness, our young officers will deliver impressive work and communicate the vital message of road safety in our communities. Congratulations to all.
